Ilminster Arts Centre Open Exhibition 2024

11 June - 5 July 2024

Proudly sponsored by Branston

The Ilminster Arts Centre is inviting all artists to submit work for our annual judged Open Exhibition 2024. The aim is to celebrate the work of established and emerging artists living and working in the South West.

Work in the following media will be considered for exhibiting: paintings, original prints, drawings, sculpture, ceramics and textiles, but not photography.

An invited judging panel will choose the pieces to be exhibited, with the aim of having a well balanced exhibition with work from as many different art genres and media as possible.

Judges will include Stewart Geddes, Anna Morris, Christine Ackerman and Art Centre Manager Bryony Tidball.

Stewart Geddes is a painter who has exhibited both nationally and internationally.  He is a Past President of the Royal West of England Academy (RWA), and is an Honorary Academician of the Royal Scottish Academy in Edinburgh.

Anna Morris is an artist whose work explores the transient effects of light, investigating mark-making and landscape through print, painting and collage. Anna completed an MA in Fine Art at Wimbledon College (University of the Arts London) and has been an Art teacher for many years. She has exhibited in galleries in the UK such as the Irving Gallery and the Wiseman Gallery in Oxford.

Christine Ackerman is a painter and former Trustee of the Art Centre.

Judges will be assisted by 3d expert and Art Centre Representative, Mike Lanigan.

A total of £750 in prize money will be awarded and awards will include one overall winner, two runners up, an emerging artist prize (Students and recent Bachelor Degree graduates) and a Visitors' Choice Award, voted for by our visitors during the month-long exhibition.

The Ilminster Open Exhibition 2024 is supported by Somerset Art Works, a countywide agency dedicated to developing the visual arts, and sponsored by local firm Branston.

In addition, each winner will be invited to participate in our Prize Winners' Exhibition, to be held during January 2025.
