Alan Bateman
Born in Swindon, UK in 1963, Alan is an accomplished jazz musician who covered the trumpet chair for several years with the great bands of Acker Bilk, Kenny Ball and Terry Lightfoot. He plays the Trumpet, Saxophone and Clarinet, and is regularly seen around the South West and Midlands. In recent years Alan has been seen around the country playing the music of the great Louis Armstrong and the all-stars, a punishing gig for any trumpeter.
Ian Bateman
Ian has had a long and distinguished career in jazz. He is best known on the traditional jazz circuit as trombonist with the bands of Acker Bilk and Terry Lightfoot. He also performed frequently with Kenny Ball and Humphrey Lyttelton.

Bringing top jazz musicians together with an orchestra is something really special and only recently Ian has picked up the baton, making his conducting debut at the recent Buxton International Festival with Clare Teal, Denny Ilett and star violinist, Lizzie Ball. Magical albums such as Billie Holiday’s “Lady In Satin”, Doris Day’s “Latin For Lovers” and the memorable recordings of Frank Sinatra and Antonio Carlos Jobim, Chet Baker, Acker Bilk and many more are all reborn under this new initiative.
Ian has spent most of his career playing in the top jazz groups and big bands produced in the UK from the late 1970’s to the present day. Ian has started to turn heads with his own shows that are gradually finding their way into the main stream of jazz in the UK. His current top shows are The Bateman Brothers Jazz Band with their tribute to Louis Armstrong and his All-Stars, which attracts ...
