International blues and boogie woogie star Julian Phillips joins top ragtime pianist Mike Denham at the Meeting House piano to explore these two remarkable styles which together shaped 20th Century music. Expect to hear intriguing solos and exciting duets from these talented players.
Julian has a great reputation for his wide and varied repertoire, playing in a truly authentic way. He appears at events around Europe alongside other top performers in the genre, paying respect to boogie pioneers such as Albert Ammons and Jimmy Yancey. Mike is well-known for his mastery of Joplin rags, and the early jazz piano of Jelly Roll Morton, Fats Waller and others. He has performed all over the country and is a firm favourite at Ilminster.
