Memoir writing

Write the stories only you can write in this class.

Tap into your creativity by responding to weekly writing prompts in class, underpinned by writing craft advice.

Everyone has a story to tell — but how do you turn your memories into a memoir that truly engages readers? In this five-week course, you’ll learn how to shape your life experiences into a compelling narrative.

Whether you're just beginning or already have material you'd like to develop, this course offers a supportive space to start (or continue) your memoir journey.

Through guided writing exercises, discussion, and feedback, you’ll explore:

Week 1: Panning for Gold – Discover your raw material. Explore the line between truth and fiction.

Week 2: Shaping Your Story – Structure, pacing, and finding the right starting point.

Week 3: Writing in Scenes – Bring your memories to life on the page.

Week 4: Sensory Language – Use vivid detail to immerse the reader in your world.

Week 5: Editing and Polishing – Strengthen your voice, tighten your prose, and prepare for next steps.

5-week course on Fridays: January 9, 16, 23, 30, February 6

10am - 12pm

Cost: £95 for 5 sessions
