Luan MacDonald - SAW Project Development Bursary
My work explores the feminine voice, community, and belonging. It is inspired by the women of the Conversation Clubs who have made Somerset their home — learning English and building meaningful relationships within their new communities.
Using dyes rooted in Somerset’s traditions alongside those introduced through centuries of migration, I work with needle felting, wool and sari silk, printmaking, and embroidery.
Drawing on local craft and heritage practices, the work weaves new voices and perspectives into the fabric of the landscape — embedding, sewing, and knitting these women into Somerset’s cultural story. Somerset Art Works Creative Pathways artist.
