The Meeting House in Ilminster has long been used as church, built as a Unitarian Chapel and completed in 1719. However, things took a decidedly sinister turn in November 1934 when the Minister was found dead in the pulpit on the morning of the 2nd of November.
Detective Chief Inspector Appleby of the Somerset County Police was asked to investigate and, with the help of the Police Surgeon was able to conclude that this was not a natural death.
Whilst town rumours spoke of the supernatural being at work because he had died so close to All Hallows Eve, the Chief Inspector was not so sure and was convinced there was a more prosaic explanation. The town had been busy with the Carnival procession on the night of the 1st of November raising funds for the Hospital and so many people were out and about that night, the night that the Minister had died.
After initial enquiries, Appleby gathers together four key persons of interest and, as he questions them tonight, it becomes clear that they are hiding something. As the evening progresses tensions rise. Who was responsible for the Ministers’ death? And Why? Detective Chief Inspector Appleby, with the help of the other guests in the Meeting House, is determined to get to the truth before the evening is out.

Guests are warmly invited to embrace the glamour and style of the 1930s with their evening attire, although dressing to the theme is entirely optional.
The evening includes a 2 course meal. Vegetarian option available.

Doors from 6:30pm with welcome drink included, on arrival.
Performance starts at 7:00pm.
Drinks will be available for purchase throughout the evening via the bar.
The evening will finish around 10.30pm.
